Business Administration (B.Sc.)
Requirements for Internship Recognition
The duration of the internship is 12 weeks. It is possible to split the internship into 2 parts, each part being of at least 4 weeks' duration. Please note that the firm where the internship is to take place must have been authorized to train people by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) or a similar institution!
Internships in university institutes and affiliated institutes, part-time jobs. student assistant jobs, jobs in a student's own firm, or jobs in a firm belonging to a family relative of a student will not be recognized.
Students will find a selection of available internships here. However, we recommend that students consult other sources in addition.
Documents to be Submitted
Your internship can earn you 12 ECTS credit points. However, you must submit all the relevant documents within the 6 months directly following the end of the internship. In order to process applications as quickly as possible, we must have the following documents:
Application for Recognition:
- Recognition of vocational trainineeship
- Recognition of an internship
Internship certificate (original)
- Length of time spent in the various departments, and the work involved
- Number of days of absence, if any
- Official stamp and signature of training supervisor
- Internship Report
Style and Content of the Internship Report
The internship report should, of course, focus primarily on describing the activities of the intern during the internship. However, a brief description of the firm in which the internship is being conducted should also be included in the report. We expect our students to produce about half a DIN A4 sheet of paper for each week of the internship, which means that for a 12-week internship, the report will be 6 pages long. Please note that graphics are not a substitute for text, and that appendices, the title page, or the table of contents do not count towards the number of pages.
The following structure should be generally adhered to:
- Title page
- Table of contents
- Possibly a confidentiality clause
- Acknowledgement of the firm (official stamp, date, signature)
The documents must be placed in a standard spring-binder and meet the following requirements:
|Font:||Times New Roman|
|Margin:||left, right, top, and bottom: 2.5 cm each|
Recognition of a Vocational Traineeship
If a student has completed a fulltime vocational traineeship, the Internship Office may recognize the traineeship as being equivalent to a 12-week internship. A list of all the vocational traineeships that may be potentially recognized can be found in the appendix of the relevant Examination Regulations (BPO). The recognition procedure is the same as that for the business administration internship. Please note, however, that you must submit a new report that corresponds to the requirements placed on an internship report. You must also submit the application to have a vocational traineeship recognized as well as the corresponding traineeship certificate.
