Plagiarism and Reproducibility in Academic Research: Taking stock and looking ahead

The talk comprises two components: Firstly, Gary Hoover reports the results of a survey concerning the nature and the extent of plagiarism in the economics profession. Perhaps more importantly, his research reports on the practices and policies that professional journals use to curb plagiarism. In the second part of the talk, Christian Hopp will present insights into the use and results of replication studies in management research. This part focuses on a how the choices researchers make in data management and analysis techniques affect the interpretation and generalizability of results. Both speakers provide recommendations for good academic practice and teaching based on their findings.
