Kick-Off Event: On Thursday, April 20th 2017, 09:00 to 10:30, room S09 (C.A.R.L, Claßenstr. 11, 2nd floor)
In this course students will work in groups to design and implement a project in cooperation with a non-profit organization. The group projects will include the collection and analysis of empirical data. Each group is working on a specific topic, which will be aligned with the respective supervisor and the social institution. Thereby, the groups will cover either qualitative (e.g., conception, implementation and interpretation of in-depth interviews and/or focus group interviews) or quantitative questioning (e.g., questionnaire development, data collection, analysis through statistical methods like factor analysis, cluster analysis and linear regression with the statistics software SPSS).
The course aims at conveying competences in marketing, market research and customer analysis to the students, which can be useful for their Bachelor- and Master thesis, as well as preparing them for professional life in the area of marketing (profit- or nonprofit marketing). The intention of the course is the implementation of scientific methods to answer a specific question in practice. Students, who do not already possess knowledge in the field of data collection and/or data analysis, will get the possibility to develop these skills. Furthermore, the course wants to increase the student`s social skills through the cooperation with non-profit organizations, as well as giving insights into the practical work of such institutions.
